Trapdoor Snails are hardy, peaceful freshwater snails prized for their algae-eating abilities and ability to live in both aquariums and ponds. Named for the operculum (“trapdoor”) that seals their shell opening, they are livebearers and won’t overpopulate as rapidly as other snail species.
